  Description:
This project includes the renovation and modernization of approximately 2,500 linear feet of the Drydock 6 service tunnel and service galleries with improvements to structural, industrial power and compressed air capabilities. The structural modifications include raising the service gallery walls. It also provides industrial power and compressed air distribution at service gallery locations on both sides of Drydock 6 by expanding existing substations with new transformers, rerouting existing electrical services and installing mechanical services from a new compressed air industrial building facility measuring 4500 sf (75×60).

Incidental work activities to support the utility line replacement include hazardous material abatement and disposal including identification, containment, removal and handling of asbestos containing materials (ACM) debris along with lead paint, heavy metals and remaining contaminated soils from demolition of certain pieces of the existing facility.

The work under this contract requires special attention to the scheduling and conduct of the work in connection with existing operations in the dry docks, roads, railroads, and other utility services within the high security Controlled Industrial area (CIA).

Supply Items Include:
Waste Disposal, Fuel, Chemical Toilets, Concrete, Aggregates, Trucking, Surveying, Equipment, Pipe, valve and fitting vendors for compressed air systems. Including air compressor, cooling tower, water treatment systems, various electrical gear, and controls.

Demolition of select pavement and pipe in select areas of the piers and dry docks. Concrete core drilling, saw cutting, grouting, horizontal directional drilling, drilled shafts. Transportation of materials on and off the base. Abatement and disposal of hazardous materials.

Install new compressed air and electrical piping in the dry dock galleries and underground locations. Metal building, plumbing, HVAC and controls systems. Painting, Concrete Cast-In-Place, minor asphalt paving and soil excavation for utility trenches.
