The Quinault Indian Nation will proudly host the 2013 Intertribal Canoe Journey. Our local canoe families, staff, and tribal government are working together in preparation for this international, intertribal cultural event and where we will be “Honoring our Warriors.”

This exciting event will be held August 1st – 6th, 2013 on the Quinault Indian Reservation. It recalls a time when cedar canoes were the traditional mode of transportation for coastal people of the Pacific Northwest. An estimated 12,000 – 15,000 people will participate in the annual Intertribal Canoe Journey where native culture, traditional dance, singing, and protocols are observed. This celebration is open to the general public and honors past, present, and future generations in a drug and alcohol free environment.

Hosting this event is a large financial obligation for each host tribe who is responsible to provide camping, meals, and cultural workshops during this week long celebration. This event receives no federal, state or local governmental funds; subsequently the primary funding source for this event is made possible through the generous support of corporate sponsors, tribal governments, Native owned businesses, and individuals.  Our goal is to raise $1 million from donors.

Tax-deductible donations, under Section 7871 (a) of the IRS Code, to our “2013 Canoe Journey Paddle to Quinault” will help assure the success of the event.

The Quinault Indian Nation (QIN) invites qualified fund raising consultants or firms (entities) to submit proposals for providing fundraising services to meet a fundraising capital campaign objective of 1 million dollars. The campaign time-frame is of six months duration and will be operational from March 2013 through August 2013.
