We like to periodically send out reminders about PTAC services!
Do you know it is free to participate in federal contracting?
The System for Award Management (SAM) is a Federal Government owned and operated FREE web site that consolidates the capabilities of previous federal procurement systems. Companies who want to do business with the Federal Government are required to be registered in SAM. The Freedom of Information Act requires that some of the company data that is input in the SAM be available to the public.
As a result of this, there are several for-profit companies who go by very official government sounding names that actively mine this site for new company information. They will look for new, incomplete, incorrectly completed , or soon to expire profiles, and will contact businesses with offers to repair or complete your profiles for a “small, tax-deductible fee.”
Oftentimes, these companies will use very aggressive sales tactics. You are always free to use these services if you choose to, however remember that your PTAC’s offer these same services for FREE.
Make sure you are connecting to the official websites! All legitimate government website will have “.gov” or “.mil” in their addresses – NEVER “.com”! (well mostly)
