We recently received an email from a local based federal agency contracting officer…

“I thought I’d send through some feedback that may help the small businesses you counsel to get more consideration for federal contracts.  I’m hearing through the [agency] grapevine that small businesses are not updating the Dynamic Small Business Search (DSBS) area in the System for Award Management (SAM).  This DSBS is used by contracting officers (COs) during the market research phase to find qualifying small businesses.  If the DSBS section is left blank in SAM then the DSBS query does not pull them in for consideration.  This could be particularly important when it comes to smaller dollar projects where COs send requests for quotes (RFQ) directly to three small businesses and the RFQ is not placed on the Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) website or another government point of entry (GPE) such as a bulletin board or internet site.”

We have said it before and we will say it again… FILL OUT YOUR DSBS!

This profile is free marketing and can have a HUGE effect on a company doing business.

You can look at your profile here, http://dsbs.sba.gov, but you updated through SAM www.sam.gov. It is on the last page of SAM registration/update. The language on the page is confusing and misleading. It should read…

ALL SMALL BUSINESSES should fill out their DSBS!!!!!!

Here is the page. It is the only way to get into your DSBS!

get to dsbs 2015

We are also including a blank DSBS Profile to help you identify the areas ported over from SAM and the areas you fill out. DSBS blank Remember you are on a time limit, be prepared when you sit down to update.
